Need old newspapers for your garden?

SANDPOINT – As the spring flowers begin to make their appearance, so do the weeds.

So, if you’re tending your garden, but don’t expect the inevitable weeds that will sprout up with your flowers and vegetables, the Daily Bee can help.

Area gardeners are welcome to drop by the Daily Bee office, 310 Church St., to claim old newspapers out of our recycling bins to use as a barrier against weeds.

According to gardenguides.com, old newspapers are an inexpensive and green way to fight weeds. The website suggests layering newspapers over the grass or garden area, making sure the newspaper pages overlap and the barrier is thick, at least 5 to 10 sheets. Water well.

For more information on reclaiming old newspapers, stop by the Daily Bee at 310 Church St., or call 208-263-9534.
