A 12-year-old girl in Haryana took her own life after struggling to cope with the loss of her beloved dog. The young woman, a sixth-grader, was found hanging in her home by her mother, who immediately alerted the authorities.
According to the police investigation, the girl had been very distressed by the death of her dog, which happened five days before the tragic incident. Her family revealed that the girl had developed a deep bond with the puppy over the course of three months, as reported by NDTV.
After the loss of her furry friend, the girl showed signs of depression and refused to eat properly. Despite the concerted efforts of her family to comfort her, the girl’s complaint seemed to have subsided. She refused to eat food and was in a stage of emotional turmoil.
Yesterday evening, the daughter’s mother and sister left the house for a shopping routine, leaving the 12-year-old boy alone at home. It was at this time that the girl, overwhelmed by her emotions and feeling devastated without her pet, made the decision to end her life.
In her statement, the mother expressed her grief, telling how her daughter’s love for animals had been deep and how her loss had left her daughter inconsolable.
“I had kept a puppy for the last 3 months. It stopped eating after it died 5 days ago. When I went to buy vegetables, I received a call from my neighbors asking me to come home quickly, since my daughter was dead.” she said.
