As a way to celebrate May being National Bike Month, Independent Health is once again giving Western New Yorkers the chance to win a Bike Month prize pack.

If you love biking in Western New York, we want to hear from you. In 350 words or less, tell us why you love cycling – is it your main mode of transport? Has it helped you on your health and wellness journey? Is it something you like to do with your family?

Submit your story by May 24 and you could win the grand prize courtesy of Independent Health. The Bike Month prize pack includes:

√ A $200 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods;

√ Two complimentary SkyRide registrations with two bicycle helmets;

√ Two free annual memberships to Reddy Bikeshare (or two $40 riding credits for existing members); and

√ An Independent Health award package.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and a New York state resident. Essays will be reviewed by a panel of judges. To submit your story, visit independenthealth.com/bikemonth.

GObike is the ultimate resource for all things bike in our region, connecting you to over 70 different events in Buffalo and Niagara Falls during Bike Month and early June. Independent Health will be at the following events with free gifts, while supplies last:

No bike? No problem!

Even if you don’t own a bike, you can still take part in this month’s events thanks to Reddy Bikeshare, presented by Independent Health. Now in its ninth season, Reddy Bikeshare is an easy, affordable and fun way to get around. There are currently 465 Reddy bikes at 110 stations in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, making it easy to get to work, go to school, visit your favorite park or take a leisurely ride. Plus, new this year, Reddy+ Bikes (pedal-assisted electric bikes) are also available for short-term rental.

Look for Reddy Bikeshare at various Bike Month events with special discounts on memberships. If you unlock a bike from 10 different stations during Bike Month, or ride more than 100 kilometers on a Reddy bike this summer, you could also be eligible to win prizes.
