Travel influencer allegedly gang raped and partner beaten up in India

Police have arrested three men in connection with an alleged violation of a travel influencer.

Spanish citizens and couple Vicente and Fernanda are known by their social media followers to travel around the world on motorcycles, sharing updates on the road.

However, the couple recently claimed that they had been the victims of a serious assault and Fernanda was allegedly raped while they were in India.

After the attack, the couple shared a video social media explain what happened to him on Friday (March 1) in Dumka.

They had stopped for the night on their way to Nepal.

The clip has since gone viral across several social networks, with many people offering their condolences and sending their best wishes to the couple.

In the footage, the pair can be seen with visible injuries to their faces, with Fernanda looking particularly distraught.

An English text bubble is seen below the duo as they explain what happened.

“Something happened to us that we wouldn’t wish on anyone, seven men raped me, beat us and stole, although not many things, because what they wanted was to rape me,” read the message.

“We are in the hospital with the police, it happened tonight here in India.”

Following international attention following their initial video, the couple released a follow-up explaining how police have moved forward with their investigation.

They also thanked everyone who had sent messages of support and addressed some of the racist comments about India that had followed.

“This video is [to] let people know that we are better, alive and thank you all for the support we have received, “read the text above Vicente while speaking during the clip with Fernanda next to him.

“The police are doing everything possible to catch them, there are already three prisoners and they will surely catch the others soon.

“They already know who I am, and I am among the others who have fled.

“Don’t think that India is like that, because it’s not true. India is a country with very good people.

“It’s a great country worth visiting, like all countries, it has its good and bad things.”

Fernanda also asked people not to generalize the country despite the fact that they had met “undesirables”, who they hope are severely punished for their actions.

According to Sky News, the authorities are looking for four other accused of participating in the attack.
