Struggling with your suitcase? Well, a travel expert has revealed how much you should be returning for a weekend spring breakers.

Award-winning travel blogger Stephanie Parker says 35 items is the optimal amount of clothing plus three pairs of shoes and accessories to pack per person for a week of fun in the sun.

She also suggests that vacationers stick to light layers so they’re well prepared no matter what time.

Stephanie said: “When travelers spend the first week, they have to make sure all the items they want to pack are cleaned and put in a separate pile.

“During the second week, they will do a test to make sure everything has been thought out and packed.

“Final packing must be done two days before departure and luggage and hand luggage must be weighed and ready to go.”

What should I pack for my weekend getaway?

To free up space in cases, parents of children can pack the essentials for the flight like diapers and bottles, but buy items like sunscreen and bracelets abroad in supermarkets.

Rather than a stressful last-minute scramble, she recommends starting the packing process two weeks before a flight by making a list of everything needed on vacation.

According to a new survey of 1,000 adults from Asda Money, two thirds of travelers admitted that they only start packing up to three hours in advance of leaving home, while one in ten cut even finer: not packed until the last half hour before departure.

More of vacationers’ pet hates include having to repack their case to reduce weight (12%) or carrying clothes from their luggage to lighten the load (11%).

Keep the weather and terrain in mind when filling your luggage with clothes, shoes and accessories.

Flight attendants reveal their suitcase packing tips

Daisy White, who is now a author of crime fiction, was cabin crew for 12 years. Working on short and long-haul flights, he ended his flying career with half a decade with British Airways, so she knows all the tricks of the trade.

As for luggage, Daisy says that the crew always has to drag their cases, and on multi-stop trips it can be one hotel after another – so she says they always try to pack light, but get all the essential.

“Roll up a pair of socks with two pairs of panties in each pair,” she told Metro.co.uk.

“It looks weird, but it saves space and keeps everything tidy.

“Bras can be neatly folded inside dresses, T-shirts rolled from bottom to top. Take a ziplock bag for your bathing suits.

Daisy says she was always particularly careful when packing shoes, as they can add a lot of weight to your bag.

“Try to pack minimal shoes,” she adds. “Flip flops cute enough to double as evening shoes, sneakers that double as sneakers and sightseeing shoes.”
