Noida: The Noida Authority has issued a tender to engage an agency to implement and maintain a vertical garden on both sides of the bridge over the Shahdara drain for two years. On Saturday, the Noida CEO inspected some areas in Sectors 37, 40, 41 and 100 and directed the officials to stay in the area. Vertical gardens will also be made in the pillars of metro stations in Sectors 59, 60, 61 and 63. The tender was issued on February 9, and the last date of application is February 15. Vertical gardens grow upwards with a frame or similar support system. In 2018, the Noida Authority started installing vertical gardens across the city to enhance its beauty and reduce pollution. The plant species in these vertical gardens include money plants, asparagus, etc. These gardens have been established on pillars under the metro rail corridors, elevated roads, flyovers, and many other places throughout the city. However, some of these vertical gardens require maintenance and are in a poor state at Kalindi Kunj Bridge. Noida Authority officials said they will fix these vertical gardens soon. The CEO found that the paint had faded in some places and ordered the officials to fix these problems. He also ordered them to install proper lights in the underpass to facilitate the commuters and cover the smelly local drains.
