Police arrest man they say stole a woman’s bike at gunpoint in Woodlawn

A Birmingham man is in jail after police say he stole a woman’s bicycle at gunpoint in the Woodlawn area. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at approximately 8:25 am, officers responded to a report of a theft in the 200 block of 59th Street South. Police said a woman told them she was riding her bike when a man stole it. at gunpoint and took his bike. She was not injured. The department issued a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) bulletin describing the suspect and the bike. Two days later, around 11:45 am, a BPD sergeant, who was working an off-duty job, saw a person riding the victim’s bicycle in the Woodlawn area. He called patrol officers who also saw him in the 5900 block of 2nd Avenue North. Vincent Dixie, 35, was arrested after being interviewed by robbery detectives. no bond on a charge of first-degree robbery.
