Speaking about her very unique bond with the pigeon, animal lover Abby said New York Post: “I found her scared and alone in some trash near my apartment three weeks ago.

“He was just a baby, he couldn’t fly and he shouldn’t be out of the nest.”

The developer of the party product contacted the wildlife rehabilitation center Wild Bird Fund before scooping up the chick and taking it in for treatment.

Abby finally decided to adopt the unfortunate wretch despite knowing very little about bird care.

“I’ve never had a dove as a pet — I’m not even a bird person,” he admits.

“But I knew that pigeons can be domesticated. When I saw how cute and friendly she was, I knew she was my baby forever.

Abby started teaching Pidge how to bathe, feed and use the toilet — and now she transports her feathered friend around the Big Apple in a cream-colored leather bag.

“If I want to go out for drinks or dinner with friends, I just put it in my bag and it goes on,” she shared.

And while pigeons are in fact considered vermin – and are often called “flying rats” – Abby says she’s never had any problems with Pidge’s cart in various restaurants and social places.

“It’s super social and super chill, so we’ve never been kicked out of any bar or restaurant,” he said.

Abby added: “If we’re out somewhere, I take her to the bathroom every 30 to 40 minutes, hold her on the toilet and she goes.

‘I tried [make her go] over the garbage cans, and she is definitely far away. He prefers a real bath.
