The fire was out at around 2pm and now Michael has praised the fire service for their quick response to the incident.

He told the Echo: “I was out riding in The New Forest and was on his way home when it happened. I was sitting, waiting in traffic in the middle lane.

“I noticed the smoke, but it was when someone on the other side of the road stopped and pointed at my bike that I pushed it onto the curb.

“There was a lot of flames and black smoke. The Fire Brigade was very quick.

“I was amazed at how quick the fire service was, especially considering how bad the traffic was on a match day. It only took a couple of minutes to get me out.

“There has never been any problem before other than this incident, I recommend the bicycle. This is my main mode of transportation.”
