Inside Travel Group appoints Tom Welland Global Trade Marketing Manager

Within the travel group, which includes specialist travel brands InsideJapan and InsideAsia, has appointed Tom Welland as its new head of global business marketing.

Welland joins specialist ski holiday tour operator Heidi.

“I am so excited to be joining Inside Travel Group and look forward to supporting our business partners in reaching their growth goals,” he said.

“This company already has an incredible reputation for its product and service, but my role here is to make it even easier for our business partners to sell InsideJapan and InsideAsia trips.

“During my time at Heidi, I have supported the company in its best performing season to date and I intend to do this on a larger scale here at Inside Travel Group.”

Chief Commercial Officer Gabo Quiros said Welland will play an important role alongside Inside Travel Group’s BDMs and their specialist consultants.

“In 2024, we see record sales months for the trade with an increase of about 30% over 2023, with the trade business representing 40% of the overall business and with Tom’s help, we are looking to continue to grow partnerships and drive growth with them. Our travel agent partners are integral to our success,” said Quiros.

InsideJapan had a record number of customers traveling until 2024. This is in line with recent figures from the Japan National Tourism Agency which show that the month of March was the country’s busiest month for the inbound tourism.

InsideAsia also had a record quarter with 2024 booking confirmations up 175% in 2023 with Korea is its fastest growing destinationwhich represents 48% of bookings so far this year.
