Cowboy Launches Cross, Latest All-Terrain E-Bike

Cowboy has unveiled its latest e-bike, Cross, an “all-road” model built for city streets and rougher terrain. With its latest release, the Brussels-based brand has bucked the recent trend of e-bike companies going bankrupt, instead doubling down with additions to its roster and moving forward in its mission to bring e-bike mobility to the masses – Cowboy, second. its co-founder and CEO Adrien Roose, is “leading the charge of this transport revolution”.

Cross is launched in two frame styles, step-over and step-through, and each of these is available in three metallic colors, inspired by nature – “Lava”, “Mushroom” and “Moss”. The bike retains Cowboy’s true design language and features a floating top tube with a seamless design and no visible welds that fans of the brand have come to know.

The new design isn’t just limited to the bike’s geometry, though. It features an inverted front fork with suspension that backs up its all-road credentials, promising a smooth ride, whether you’re going through potholes or deciding to take a spin off the beaten track. There is also suspension in the seat, further adding to the overall comfort that riders can expect while driving Cross. The new, wider 60mm tires add volume to the ride and help tackle different types of terrain with ease. All in all, the combined effects of these features promise to deliver Cowboy’s most comfortable ride to date.

One thing that sets a Cowboy apart from similar e-bikes (like Vanmoof) is its removable battery, and Cross is no different here. The battery can be removed and brought inside for safe keeping and to be charged, a convenience that cannot be understated. The new battery on the Cross, however, is improved and features 50% more power compared to the batteries found on Cowboy’s existing Classic and Cruiser bikes. Cowboy claims that this new 540Wh battery has a range of 60-120 kilometers (about 37-75 miles), varying depending on how the bike is used and external conditions such as temperature, wind and terrain. It can be fully charged in just three hours, too, which is pretty fast by e-bike battery standards.

Cowboy has also introduced some new bike health and safety features with Cross. These include a new proprietary feature called “Check My Bike”, a diagnostic tool that monitors your bike for problems and can self-diagnose any problems. “Find My Bike” is also present in Cross, along with “Share My Ride” and “Predictive Alerts”, features that users of previous Cowboy models will be familiar with.

Cross is available to purchase from March 20 via Cowboy’s website and stores, as well as select retail partners. The bikes are priced at €3999 EUR / £3599 GBP, although for a limited time they can be ordered at an “early bird” price of €3,499 EUR / £3,099 GBP. There are no current release plans in the US.
