Madurai: Two unknown bike-borne assailants robbed a 52-year-old woman of her gold chain when she was walking near Nagamalai Pudukottai in Madurai district on Wednesday night. According to the police, N Seethalakshmi, of Melakuyilkudi Road, works as a cook. in a school in Nagamalai Pudukottai. On Wednesday evening, after finishing her work, the woman was on her way home and was walking on Melakuyilkudi road near Ashok Nagar junction. Two unidentified men on a two-wheeler came behind her and knocked off the two sovereign gold chains she was wearing. Based on Seethalakshmi’s complaint, the police registered a case and they investigated. In another incident, burglars made off with gold jewelery and cash from a house near Sedapatti. Police said P Kathammal, 72, of Periyakattalai, Peraiyur, had locked his house and gone to his relative’s house in Vagurani. When the woman returned, she found gold jewelery weighing two sovereigns and cash of Rs20,000 burgled.TNN
