TTG – Topics – ‘Clear shift’ towards spring getaways, says Barrhead Travel boss

Dobson on Tuesday (April 2) revealed that the number of passengers on Scottish independents jumped by 20% during the Easter weekend compared to the same period last year.

Demand for the final weeks of the winter season remains high across the Barrhead sales network with around 10% of new bookings made over the past week for April departures.

Booking patterns show that customers – especially families – took advantage of an early Easter to go longer before spring.

All-inclusive beach breaks and cruise bookings, including sailings from Southampton and Miami, are among the most popular types of vacations.

Dobson said: “Easter is one of the first opportunities of the year for families to enjoy quality time together.

“There has been a clear change in recent years when it comes to spring breaks. We first saw longer weekends or domestic breaks for families during Easter, but now it has evolved into a key date in the annual holiday calendar” .
