As in any open world game, travel is one of the most important aspects Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and there is one key element that the game does better than almost any competitor. tea world of Gaia presented in FF7 Rebirth is a great one, it translates what was originally a map of the world into a series of large open world areas full of activities and decorated in detailed terrain. Not every corner of the map is as exciting as the more specially designed content in the game, but it manages to smooth out some potential annoyances in a smart way.

As was the case in the original Final Fantasy 7, FF7 Rebirth offers a range of options for travel which pop up at different points in the game. Simply running from point A to point B is usually an option, but there is also a fast travel system, the situational availability of vehicles, and the series of Chocobos to mount and ride. Although still lovable, Chocobos are more useful in some games than others, and FF7 Rebirth might as well make the best case for them.

Actor Cody Christian, who voices Cloud Strife in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, discusses leading the iconic role and his history with the game.

FF7 Rebirth Chocobos makes the journey better

It doesn’t take long to notice a huge quality of life feature when it comes to riding a Chocobo FF7 Rebirth it is possible to perform many key activities without dismounting. From gathering crafting materials scattered throughout the world to chatting with random NPCs, pressing the triangle button on a Chocobo’s back takes care of most of the interaction. It’s a significant improvement over the way most video game mounts work, and ends up saving a lot of time over the course of the adventure.

A large part of this advantage is just a lucky result of long-standing Chocobo design, as a beaked creature bending down to peck at something makes a lot more sense than expecting a horse to handle a similar task. All the same, it is not something that Final Fantasy the games have always benefited. While FF10 let Chocobos open the trunks in 2001, the function was absent FF15 and FF16. Nice to see it back in place FF7 Rebirthand it shows that the game is not just costing the approach of its direct predecessors.

FF7 Rebirth Review: “A beautiful showcase of a timeless story”

FF7 Rebirth is an outstanding return to the world of Gaia that relies heavily on its memorable star-studded cast and a classic but reimagined story,

Chocobos also have some mechanical involvement in research through the use of their strangely effective olfactory senses. Sniffing out secrets is not always one of the most interesting tasks in the game, but once again it benefits from the same strong principle – when the location of a buried object if found, Chocobos can peck it out of the ground rather than requiring a disassembly. Although its usefulness in this regard might raise a bit of jealousy from Red XIII, it helps to make summoning a Chocobo have a lot more allure than the basic appeal of picking up the pace on the go.

Other good uses for Chocobos In FF7 Rebirth

The inclusion of Region specific chocobo skill is the last major addition to its utility, actively requiring its use in navigation in certain areas. The Chocobos in Junon are able to climb cliffs, for example, which proves instrumental in the side content of the area. Those in Gongaga can jump on bouncy mushrooms to quickly ping-pong at different elevations, a tactic the women in the party will take advantage of in a time-sensitive story sequence.

Making a beeline for a Chocobo ranch or town can be worthwhile, as some exploration won’t be possible until a region’s Chocobos are acquired.

It is also worth noting that there is a simple fun to be had with Chocobos, an area where FF7 Rebirth take advantage of its tone often clearer than FF16. There’s no shortage of silly costumes to dress up a Chocobo, including a particularly eye-catching option prepared from way back. FF7 Remake side character Kyrie. Chocobo gear offers unique stat boosts in the raceswhich are not surprisingly one of the great delights of the entertainment at the Gold Saucer.

There are definitely areas where FF7 RebirthThe open world of the world could also use improvement, but the care put into the main method of travel is certainly not one of them. Although large birds may not make perfect mounts for every game, they are just right for the world of Gaia. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a long list of things to do, and doing many of them on the back of a Chocobo elevates the whole experience.
