Two people have been arrested after a video of them punching and kicking a dog at a pet clinic in Thane, Maharashtra, went viral. On February 13, a police complaint was filed in connection with the incident. The incident took place at Vetic Pet Clinic, which is located in R Mall in Thane. In the video, an animal clinic employee can be seen repeatedly stabbing the Chow Chow dog in the face and back. A man filming the incident was also seen kicking the dog as it struggled. The dog was then seen getting out of the stretcher and out of the room as the man continued to hit him.

Many people, including several Bollywood actors, expressed their outrage over the viral video. Currently, the images of the two miscreants who were arrested by the Thane police have surfaced online. The names of the two arrested individuals have not yet been released. Meanwhile, the police closed the animal clinic.

“This is a very disturbing incident involving a pet and 2 of our groomers. As pet parents and animal lovers, this is shocking and completely unacceptable to us. As a first step, we immediately terminated both and registered a formal investigation into it. We are also working alongside the authorities and have initiated police action in this matter,” a spokesperson for Thane told the Free Press Journal (FPJ ).

Nilesh Bhange, an office bearer of animal rights organization PAWS, and a few other people filed a non-cognizable complaint after the video went viral on social media, an official told the news agency PTI. A magistrate’s order is required before the police can look into a non-cognizable complaint, according to reports.

Later, a video of the dog was uploaded on the Instagram page of Street Dogs of Bombay, where the organization claims to be “Being the voice for all animals”.
