Sooke Secret Garden Tour set to bloom

Lovers of classical music, beautiful blooming gardens and artists at work can sample their passions on the Sooke Secret Garden Tour.

“The Sooke Philharmonic Society is thrilled to announce the long-awaited return of the annual Sooke Secret Garden Tour after a four-year hiatus,” said Bonnie Sprinkling, garden tour coordinator for the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra.

“The highly anticipated event offers a delightful opportunity for gardening enthusiasts, as well as music and art lovers, to immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of some of Sooke’s most captivating gardens.”

The tour promises a chance to travel through the garden’s landscapes, each boasting a unique design, Sprinkling said. Participants can explore a diverse range of eight gardens and three unique destinations, from sprawling sanctuaries to intimate urban oases, all cultivated by passionate gardeners in the community.

Special destinations include the Sooke Regional Museum, Artisans Garden, and Woodside Farms, with some garden owners having plants for sale.

There is also the opportunity to pick up ideas, get guidance, and exchange advice with members of the Victoria Master Gardeners Association.

“This event is not only a celebration of the gardens, but also an opportunity to enjoy the music of the Sooke Philharmonic, conducted by Yariv Aloni, and see the work of community artists,” Sprinkling said.

The tour will showcase local gardens filled with music by members of the Sooke Philharmonic and friends. It will also include the Sooke Arts Arts Council’s Plein Air event, which features local artists creating artwork outdoors.

Garden tours are from 10am to 4pm on June 1st and June 2nd, followed by an outdoor garden concert at 4:30pm on Sunday, June 2nd.

The organizers suggest bringing a chair or blanket for the concert.

All proceeds from the garden tour support keeping music performance and wellness accessible in the community.

Tickets are available by cash only at Pharmasave Sooke, 6716 Westcoast Rd., and by cash or Etransfer on the day of the tour at Sooke Region Museum, 2070 Phillips Rd.
