Second vessel to get ‘pet friendly’ cabins

Pet services will be available on a second ferry service to the Channel Islands.

Condor said it will install six “pet-friendly” cabins on its Commodore Clipper ship this summer.

The move follows similar work carried out on one of the company’s other ships, Islander, last November.

Each cabin will be equipped with hard, laminated floors and an outdoor platform will be accessible for exercise.

Pets can always be carried in a suitable vehicle or carrier on the car.

John Napton, CEO of Condor, said the reaction from passengers traveling on the Islander has been “overwhelmingly positive, so we listened and are now extending it to Clipper.”

“Our figures show that in 2019, we carried 12,700 pets on our routes from the UK to Jersey and Guernsey and inter-island, while in 2022 this figure had risen to 16,600, an increase of 30 %.

He added: “Condor continuously invests in its fleet, services, and an important part of this is listening to our passengers.”
