Red Dog Pet Resort’s annual doggie bake sale supports local pet clinic

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A pet-focused bake sale took place Saturday at a popular beer garden in support of a local NGO.

Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa held its third annual dog bake sale at Mad Tree Brewing Company.

All proceeds from the sale went to the UCAN Pet Care Clinic, a non-profit spay/neuter clinic.

“At our bake sale, we actually partner with local bakeries and sponsor the baked goods, and then we collect all the baked goods, we sell it and 100 percent of the proceeds go to UCAN,” said Sarah Penny, Events Coordinator at Red Dog Pet Resort.

For three years now, Red Dog Pet Resort has spent Valentine’s weekend at Madtree Brewing to focus on animals and share the love for them by treating them to some dog treats.

“We have all kinds of dog bread – all dog safe – we have cupcakes, cookies, puppy treats, we have all kinds of dog treats….we also collect dog food. UCAN because they have a pantry for l ‘pet food, so people are encouraged to bring pet food to the event,’ Penny said.

Not only were there sweet treats for canines, but there were many vendors who were also in Madtree selling goods for pets and their owners.

“We have dog treats, dog headbands and ties, and stuffed animals for dogs, all kinds of fun stuff,” Penny said.

Most importantly, the money raised helps UCAN continue to help the community.

“A non-profit spay and neuter clinic, so they help low-income families get veterinary care for their dogs, especially spaying and neutering, which is so important because the overpopulation in our shelters right now is directly related to people not spaying or neutering their pets,” Penny explains.
