Moved and renovated two-story Garden District mansion for sale

A renovated 6,500-square-foot Garden District mansion is for sale on Gilmer Avenue near Trinity Presbyterian Church. The two-story design was built in 1910 and provides six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.

But there is much more to the story of this house, said Sally Byrd. “The house at 1604 Gilmer Avenue was rebuilt from a house on Court Street that was cut in two and moved!” she said. “The second level has been seamlessly added for a total of six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Built with reclaimed materials and attention to detail, the home is truly a work of art! A self-contained guest house with a similar architectural design and a beautiful gunite pool with a whirlpool were added later.

The Garden District is located on the west side of Norman Bridge Road, across from Old Cloverdale. The neighborhood includes many beautiful churches, charming houses, the Governor’s Mansion, and green spaces.

“The Garden District is steeped in history and the exceptional character and craftsmanship of yesteryear is evident throughout,” Byrd said. “The Garden District is convenient to downtown and Midtown. Built in the early 1900s, these unique homes feature Artesian architecture including English Tudor, Craftsman and traditional Southern designs.”
