“Petco Love grant funding is instrumental in helping to care for the thousands of animals that come through our doors each year,” Kogut said.

MHS Executive Director Nikki Cruickshank said: “Medical treatment of animals, spaying and neutering, giving vaccinations, and providing resources to keep animals and families together are part of our mission, and we really couldn’t do it without the support of Petco Love.”

Midlands Humane Society is a non-profit organization that exists to improve the lives of the animals that arrive at our doors by providing a gentle touch, exceptional medical care, nutritious food and a warm bed.

As the premier humane society in the Council Bluffs/Pottawattamie County area, MHS works to alleviate animal suffering and rehome animals in need through well-matched adoptions and educate the public about proper care of companion animals.

MHS Pets of the Week brought to you by Petco Love:

Wyatt Derp

Wyatt Derp he is a 1.5 year old neutered male Pit mix with a very goofy personality who can’t wait to entertain you with his antics. He is always ready to play and will be a great adventure friend to bring on hikes. He does well with other dogs, and we think he would love a home with a canine friend. He must be adopted in an area without a breed ban.

You

You

You is a 7 year old neutered male Husky who is an independent man who walks to the beat of his own drum. He is looking for a home where he can enjoy his golden years doing the things he likes the most. When in a playgroup, Ty is quite aloof and prefers coexistence over play. We think he would do well in a home with another relaxed and sweet dog who would enjoy the company of others. Ty needs regular grooming to keep his coat in tip-top shape.

Gigi

Gigi

Gigi is a 2.5 year old German Shepherd looking for an experienced owner to help him come out of his shell. His trust must be earned, and once it is we know that he will be a very loyal partner. With a patient owner, their true personality will shine through.

Pebble

Pebble

Pebble she is a 2 year old spayed female Boxer mix who is very friendly and has energy to spare. It can be a bit uncertain when interacting with other dogs and we believe that this is due to the lack of experience and socialization. Since he is selective with his canine companions, a meet and greet is recommended.

MHS is open weekends from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. MHS will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 17, for staff meetings.
