Miami-Dade Animal Services puts out plea for pet adoption as shelters reach ‘critical capacity’

WEST KENDALL – Pet Services of Miami-Dade put in a prayer to the community saying they are in “critical capacity”.

They have almost 1,000 animals in their shelters.

“Our capacity is 350 dogs, we’re at 800 dogs this week,” said Shelter Services Director Annette Jose about the Doral facility.

That impacts the attention and care of dogs.

“We have to double the dogs where we usually want to have one per kennel, we have to double because we have limited space,” Jose said.

This means that the shelter has to selectively turn away dogs.

“We ask people to hold the dog,” said Jose. “If you have any kind of difficulty with the dog, we will help you, we will give you resources to keep that dog at home, but coming here to the shelter is really the last resource for a community.”

The shelter began bringing dogs into the community more often.

“How to help, how to open our doors, how to engage our community,” thought Joaquin Azar when he heard that the shelter was full.

Azar is the corporate ambassador at Lexus and Toyota of West Kendall, a facility that has close to 800 employees.

“Our employees have pets themselves — they’ve adopted them from Animal Services,” she said.

Azar said this is the fifth time he’s hosted a community adoption event, where nearly 30 dogs have been adopted — three, by him.

In addition to adoption, there are many other ways you can help here at the shelter. You can favor, you can come and take the dogs out for the day, or you can walk through the facility.

“As you can see, the dogs that went here are all big dogs, but there are so many benefits for big dogs,” said Jose. “They are fun, they are beautiful, but a big dog can be the best companion.

While hundreds in the community step up each month to adopt, more dogs enter the facility than leave.

  5. Gdy podejrzewamy, że nasza żona lub mąż zdradził małżeństwo, ale nie ma na to bezpośrednich dowodów lub chcemy się martwić o bezpieczeństwo naszych dzieci, dobrym rozwiązaniem jest również monitorowanie ich telefonów komórkowych, które zazwyczaj pozwala na uzyskanie ważniejszych informacji.
