Looking for a Christmas pet? Petland has deals, special drawings with a pet purchase

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – If you have a girl or boy with a pet on their Christmas list, Petland offers Black Friday deals and some special designs.

Staci Williams, the owner of Topeka’s Petland, described traffic at her store on Nov. 24 — Black Friday — as “non-stop” since the doors opened early in the morning during the shopping holiday.

“So the doors opened at 10:00, and it’s been, as you can see, non-stop since 10 o’clock this morning,” Williams said. “We’re open until 9:00 tonight, seven days a week of course. We’re here, and you can come in.”

The pet store is currently promoting several Black Friday deals on toys, pets and designs. With the purchase of a pet ranging from a beta fish to a puppy, the customer can apply to win toys or pet food for free for a year. Candidates can apply until December 31. Winners will be chosen randomly on January. 1 of 2024.

The price for hamsters is half-off, and prices for puppies may vary while supplies last.

“We have specials on puppies starting at $998.00. We have buy three toys, get one free. If you shop at Petland, you are entered into a drawing for free toys or dog food for a year. So, there are stipulations on all of them, but come play today. We have hamsters 50% off with the purchase of a hamster house.

The store also offers families a unique way to present their pet as a gift to their child this Christmas. The offer is to buy all the supplies you need to take care of your pet, including pets, put supplies under the Christmas tree on December 25, and take your family to the store the animal the next day, December 26. to pick up your pet from the store. Willaims also said the staff will decorate the animal’s window as a Christmas present once it arrives.

“Send you home with all the supplies to put under the Christmas tree, and then the day after Christmas, we’ll decorate the puppy window, and we’ll really have fun, and you can bring your son or daughter to get their puppy .”

Williams recommends certain animals, such as beta fish, parakeets and hamsters, as an excellent start for children.

“A beta would be a good pet because it only takes one piece of food to feed a beta because their stomachs are the size of their eyeballs. So it’s a very easy lesson for a child. A parakeet is another good one. Hamsters tend to be a bit fast for kids three, four, five, [and] six years So, there [are] all kinds of pets.”

Williams believes that the best reason to consider that your child has a pet is the responsibility that they can learn from the experience.

“I raised my boys, and I have a grandson. Having a pet teaches them responsibility and that responsibility is so important as they grow. Even a three-year-old child can learn how to feed and water a hamster or how to feed and water a bird. So it really teaches them a lot of life lessons at a very early age.

However, if you need more expertise to show how to care for an animal – the animal advisers are also available to answer any question you have.

“The only thing about Petland. We have pet advisors who [can] educate yourself, so come, tell us what you need, and we will match the right animal with the right customer.”

Williams also wants the public to know that if you don’t want to buy a pet, come play with the animals.

“You don’t have to buy a pet. Just experience one. Come see a puppy. Come meet a bird. It’s worth it,” Williams said.
