The Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners will host a presentation on “New Invaders Watch: Spotted Lanternfly, Illinois Most Unwanted Invasive Species” on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
It will begin with the social hour at 6:45 pm with the business meeting and presentation at 7 pm at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.
Learn how to identify, report and possibly manage this new invasive pest.

Join Tricia Bethke for a lively discussion about protecting our trees and plants from this “pesky” pest and potentially others.
Bethke is the Illinois Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator. His position is funded by a cooperative grant with the United States Department of Agriculture, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the Morton Arboretum.
Her responsibilities include training key stakeholders in the state on the USDA APHIS Hungry Pests program, forest pest identification, high-risk pathways, regulations and quarantines, and reporting protocols.
Bethke also coordinates and instructs audiences on tree identification, forest pest detection and tree health monitoring.
