LancasterHistory plans four nature events at Tanger Arboretum | Home & Garden

Four events are scheduled from March to July in LancasterHistory’s Tangier Arboretum nature series.

All of these events are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Tangier Arboretum, located on the LancasterHistory campus, 230 N. President Ave., Lancaster.

Tickets for all of these events are $5 for adults and $3 for children 17 and under. Registration is strongly recommended as there is limited space in each program.

– On March 30, Dr. Alan Peterson, director emeritus of Environmental and Community Medicine for Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, will present “Exploring Climate and Health.”

He will talk about changes in the Earth’s climate and how they affect the health and life of humans and animals.

– On May 11, ecological design consultant Lydia Martin will speak “Native Plants of Hidden Valley.”

He will discover his favorite plants and talk about how they help the natural landscape and provide benefits to wildlife on his 10-acre property in southern Lancaster County, Hidden Valley.







bluebird lancasterhistory program

“The Ecology and Management of the Eastern Bluebird” is the topic for a June 15 nature presentation by Dr. Dean Rust, president of the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania, at Tangier Arboretum at LancasterHistory.




“The Ecology and Management of the Eastern Bluebird” is the topic for June 15th. Dr. Dean Rust, president of the Pennsylvania Bluebird Society and author of “The Beloved and Charismatic Bluebird,” will discuss bluebird boxes, the life cycle of bluebirds and how to care for these birds in your backyard.

– July 27, “Pollinators and Butterflies” will be presented by Lisa J. Sanchez, longtime naturalist with the Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation Environmental Center.

Sanchez will lead a walk around the orchard’s pollinator gardens and discuss different species of pollinators, such as butterflies, moths and bees.
