Habitat Home and Garden celebrates five years in the same block where the 99 cents only store closes out

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Habitat Home and Garden store is celebrating its fifth year that includes the COVID crisis and a slowdown in foot traffic where it is located at 400 State Street at the corner of Gutierrez Street in Santa Barbara.

The foot traffic on the block where the store is located has a mix of local residents and tourists coming from the beach area near the State Street overpass.

The weekend warehouse-style sale as part of the anniversary, will make savings of up to 75 percent. The staff says that many of the items are unique.

Laura Eagleston says that the store stores, “dining tables, dining chairs, we have really beautiful beautiful sofas that come in many different styles and collections.”

The store also offers home design services and a variety of options in inventory connected to its larger warehouse at 1291 Mesa View Dr. in Arroyo Grande, which is also a sale. Eagleston says it’s “five times bigger” than Santa Barbara. Habitat recently expanded and opened in Malibu.

The birthday event takes place on Saturday and Sunday with a DJ and snacks for customers. They also have a drawing for a $250 gift card.

On the same block, the 99-cent store just closed, and is doing its final sale. The store is not scheduled to open after April 28. Other changes on the block include the opening of Venture Clothing at 428 State Street.

At Habitat Eagleston says there aren’t many places in town where you can see furniture up close, sit down and check it out up close.

“It’s always exciting to meet the locals,” who have never been there before. “There are so many people who live in the city who have not come through this part of the city. I continue to encourage people to come, even if you are not buying furniture at this time. We have all these unique one of a kind vintage. pieces,” Eagleston said.

The building has a large door in the back for customers to load parts into a truck.
