The Patterson Garden Club recently hosted the Valley Lode District meeting in the Bays Barn. This was a meeting of all the Valley and Mother Lode clubs.

“Bats in the Barn” was the theme of the meeting. The special guest was Mary “Corky” Quirk, who is a member of the NorCal Bats, which is an organization dedicated to the rescue and release of bats in Northern California. Quirk spoke about the benefits of having bats in gardens and on farms. He had live native species on hand. Images of the boat were shown on a large screen for the entire audience to get a good look at the little rascals.

Lunch was served and a raffle was held. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the scholarship fund. The club donates annually to the PRIDE organization which distributes scholarships to Patterson High School seniors.

“We would like to thank Amy Thorpe and the students at Rising Sun School who provided the beautiful table decorations,” she said…… “A big thank you also goes to Bays Ranch, Thompson Chevrolet, Rotary Club, Sunshine Donuts, Fantozzi Farms, Traina Foods, Tractor Supply, The Greenery, Morris Nursery, Parks Greenhouse Nursery, Starbucks, Home Depot, True Value, Alicia Perez, Sandy Gustafson and all the members who helped make our district meeting a success.
