Crosslake Area Garden Club donates to local groups – Pine and Lakes Echo Journal

CROSSLAKE – The Crosslake Area Garden Club recently donated to the following local organizations.

  • Ideal Green Market to increase gardens for donations of food, organic fertilizers and irrigation equipment.
  • Northland Arboretum The Youth in the Garden program.
  • Crosslake Community School for soil testing student gardens and other garden related education.
  • Emily Food Shelf garden soil to be used towards the development of additional communal garden land.

Donations are budgeted annually to non-profit horticultural organizations within a 40 mile radius of Crosslake.

“The garden club is excited to make these donations. We feel these organizations are worthy of these two donations because they help our future gardeners through youth programs and help feed our neighbors,” said Crosslake Garden Club President Debby Floerchinger in a press release.

Funds for these donations are raised through the annual plant sale (to be held on June 1) and additional donations.

The Crosslake Area Garden Club promotes and encourages all forms of horticulture through home and community gardening. Membership is strong with 45 members meeting each month to learn more about various aspects of gardening.
