Join the City of Gainesville’s Zero Waste Specialists at McRorie Community Garden (615 SE Fourth Ave.) for a hands-on composting workshop on Thursday, April 25 at 6 pm!

  • We will discuss the importance of entertainment material from the ground up;
  • Let’s look at different stages of the controlled decomposition process known as composting;
  • we have to build our own “hot compost” pile;
  • and we’ll discuss local resources and other potential diversion outlets for those who aren’t ready to take the plunge.

Learn how to turn your kitchen scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Our expert instructors guide you through the process step by step. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to reduce waste and improve soil health. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment!

This event is free and open to the public, whether or not you have a plot in the community garden. We only ask that you sign up in advance. Keep an eye out for future composting workshops at community gardens around town.
