Child struck by vehicle in Coral Springs

YOU LOVE ME – A ten-year-old boy had to be transported to a local hospital Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle in Coral Springs.

A witness said the boy was hit by a white van and was carried on a stretcher to a waiting helicopter. It happened at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of NW 110th Avenue and Sample Road.

“I heard children screaming,” said one woman who asked not to be identified. She said she rushed to the scene.

“Across the street, I saw that a child had been hit, so I called 911 and as I was walking I saw two little girls and the boy that had been hit by the van.”

She said they told her they were walking to Coral Springs Elementary, which is a few feet from the scene. One of the girls told the lady that the boy is her brother and was allegedly walking in front of the group.

Coral Springs officials said the boy was walking across the street on his way to school.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene.

The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Sample Road when the child was struck.

The minor was taken to Broward General with non-life threatening injuries and is said to be in stable condition.

Authorities said the vehicle was at the scene.

The incident is under investigation.
