AAA Northeast predicts busy travel days as storm hits Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – AAA Northeast is expecting more travelers than usual this week.

With spring break and bad weather, they advise travelers keep a close eye on the storm and its flight status.

Florence Healy is returning to Florida after visiting her boyfriend in Rhode Island and said her flight was delayed twice Wednesday night.

“That gets me home around 11:30,” Healy explained. “When I get in the car, I’ll be home at 1 o’clock in the morning”

AAA Northeast projects spring break travel peaks Thursday and Friday, with more than 50,000 flights on Thursday.

The influx of travelers is short with a storm coming in, the Northeast will see strong winds, rain and possible snow in some areas.

However, Healy hopes she will miss the worst.

“Well, I was worried about them hitting tonight,” he said. “I don’t want to be on the plane with all the turbulence, because they said some of the tastes will be tonight.”

Kyle Grissum arrived at TF Green International Airport from the Atlanta airport, where he said it was especially busy.

“There were just a lot of people,” Grissum said. “A lot more than normal, more than I’m used to seeing, but everything was on time for the most part.”

Barbara Love had a full day of flying, starting in New Mexico early Wednesday morning.

She said the weather won’t spoil her visit with loved ones on the East Coast.

“We’re here to visit their children,” Love said. “So, let’s just sit down.”
