Cyclists rejoice! Triumph Motorcycles will finally bring back the Daytona which is set to become the third addition to Triumph’s 660cc platform. The bike will make its official world debut tomorrow (January 9), following its multiple official teasers. It will share the same platform as the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 and will draw inspiration from the limited edition supercar, Triumph Daytona Moto2 765.

While the original Daytona made its name for being an aggressively styled supercar, the next model will likely have a lightweight, sport-touring-oriented design. It will have split-type LED headlights seamlessly integrated into a layered fairing. Spy shots reveal a robust fuel tank as well as a semicircular instrument cluster.

It will be powered by a 660cc in-line triple cylinder engine shared with the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. However, the company will tweak and tune the engine based on the racing character of the Daytona and more spirited riding experience. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. Anticipated features on the bike include full LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, two-way quickshifter, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, and a traction control system and digital instrument cluster.

Triumph Daytona 660 officially presented.

Built on the chassis of the Trident 660 with a modified sub-frame for the distinctive tail section, the Daytona 660 will sport USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Riding on 17-inch alloys fitted with Michelin tires, it will use twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear for braking.

Slated for a global debut on January 9, an Indian launch is uncertain at this point. Considering the presence of the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 in India, Triumph may introduce the Daytona 660 in the country from the second half of the year.
