A pet food manufacturer needed a space-conscious solution that could efficiently transport and cool hot pet chews before they reached the packaging line.
Triton Innovation, LLC provide efficient space solution to support the end-to-end production of pet chews. The 270°F pet chews were fed to an inclined conveyor that elevated them to the top level of a multi-level cooling conveyor system for effective temperature reduction before reaching the packaging line. With space limitations being a major concern at the manufacturing site, the multi-tier cooling conveyor was an ideal solution. It vertically utilizes the space by dividing the transport distance necessary to effectively cool the animal’s chewers into five stacked segments.
Each level had discharge points at the end that dropped animal chewers to the conveyor level located directly below. Once completely cooled, the bottom level conveyor fed the pet chewers to the packaging line.
Both the inclined conveyor and the multi-level cooling conveyor featured belts with a 38% opening that allowed for improved airflow for enhanced cooling and were enclosed by stainless steel hinged top covers with flanged inlets for connection of the exhaust system. To support the addition of cooling fan connections, side ports with removable plexiglass window covers were used. To accommodate a variety of methods and conditions, a VFD speed controller allowed operators to increase or decrease cooling times.
