Man severely injured when petrol tank of bike explodes after firecracker fell over it, kannur temple fest


Pariyaram: In a devastating incident at Pariyaram, a person suffered severe burn injuries when the petrol tank of his bike exploded due to a fragment of a firecracker falling on it. Sreekanth (24), son of Divakaran and a resident of Mulekadu in Pariyaram, sustained severe injuries in the accident. He was admitted to a private hospital in Chalakkudy, where authorities said he had sustained 60% burn injuries. He was transferred to Ernakulam Medical Center soon after.

The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 5:45 PM. Locals nearby rushed to the scene of the accident, which happened shortly before a procession as part of the celebration in the church of St. George in Pariyaram.

At the time of the accident, the pillion rider had gone to a nearby shop, leaving Sreekanth alone on his bike. A firecracker accidentally landed on the bike, causing the gas tank to explode with a loud bang. Sreekanth was thrown from the bike and sustained injuries, while the bike sustained severe damage. Sreekanth was a welding worker. Nearby shops also suffered damage from the impact of the blast.
