Man attacked, bike stolen outside Far East Side restaurant

A man was attacked and had his bicycle stolen outside a Far East Side restaurant Sunday, Madison police said.

Around 5 pm Sunday, the man was in McDonald’s, 4502 E. Washington Ave., when he noticed someone trying to take his bike. The man went outside and chased the person who stole his bike, police spokeswoman Stephanie Fryer said in a statement.

Chief Shon Barnes said in his blog that the man found his bike when he chased the person who took it.

When the man returned to the McDonald’s, he was attacked by a group in the parking lot, with a member of the group who said he had a gun, Fryer aid.

The group left when the police were called, and no arrests were made, Fryer said.
