Humane Pennsylvania to Waive Senior Shelter Pet Adoption Fees for National Adopt A Senior Pet Month

National Adopt A Senior Pet Month is celebrated in November, which reminds people to consider opening their home and heart to an elderly shelter animal in need. To find homes for as many senior pets as possible, Human Pennsylvania will be offering fee-free adoptions for senior pets throughout the month of November at two adoption centers in Berks and Lancaster counties, thanks to the generosity of Lancaster Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical (LHP).

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 30, dogs and cats over 10 years old at the Berks and Lancaster County adoption centers will be free to safe, loving homes. Lancaster Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical will cover the cost of senior pet adoption expenses. “Lancaster Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, & Electrical supports this effort because we believe in giving back to the community and are passionate about animal welfare,” said Jenna Kaufman, Managing Partner of LHP. “We see this event as an opportunity to promote the benefits of pet adoption and build a stronger and more passionate community. Pets bring immense joy and companionship to our lives, and we want facilitate the process of providing a loving home.”

Adopters wishing to provide a forever home for a senior shelter pet are encouraged to visit shelter campuses or HumanePA.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania’s diligent adoption screening process (approval is not guaranteed).

  • Spaying or neutering (before adoption).
