Busy travel days expected this week

Families will be leaving Michigan for the New Year and transportation experts say Friday will be one of the busiest days on the road.

Police are reminding drivers to slow down and not drive distracted.

AAA’s Adrienne Woodland of Michigan says those who hit the road will pay less for gas.

“Many Michigan drivers can expect to pay about the same or less for a gallon of gas than they did last holiday season,” Woodland said.

The current average for a gallon of gas is $2.94, about ten cents less than a year ago.

More than 3.5 million Michiganders are expected to travel this holiday season. Airports are also expected to be busy in the next three to four days.
